Fantastic, a highlight of our stay in Madrid

Almu is very engaging with children, and flexible enough to maintain their interest. My 5 year old was playing "food tour" with her friends as soon as she got home!

Highly recommended- great tapas restaurants with character

The Prado tour was the perfect amount of time with kids and very engaging. The kids actually found a new appreciation for art because of Almu's kid-friendly approach making it fun and easy to understand the artwork and how it is linked to history.
We had a blast at the Tapas tour. We were all smiles the whole night! Almu took us to great tapas restaurants with a ton of character that only "locals" would know about.
Highly Highly recommend both tours!!

Can't say enough good things about Almudena and the tours!

She is very personable, knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. She is also quite a humanist, and is involved with various charities.
She took me to local restaurants where not many tourists visit, and in the museum she showed me the main highlights along with a good explanation about the paintings.
You will not regret taking her tours.

Great food and wine but the history was even better!

She led us through the streets of Madrid to visit truly historic tapas restaurants some of which have been in existence for more than 100 years. The food and wine were great but the history was even better.
The next day we met her at the Prado for a fantastic tour where she was able to bring the artwork to life.
Almudena has a special interest in recording the memories of those who lived through the Spanish Civil War and is a treasure trove of information on the subject.
Highly recommended!

The perfect host- Almu is a real find!

Already being great fans of Goya's work, we were absolutely amazed to find that Almu could get us access to see some of his original plates which his four sets of famous prints were taken from, at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes. The room was actually closed at the time, as they were setting up for a new exhibition in the space, but with Almu's contacts and magician-like abilities, she was able to get the room unlocked for us, and she gave us a private viewing. It was incredible and something we thought we would never see. The rest of the museum is well worth a look too, and you will find more attendants than visitors, as it doesn't seem to be very well known. This is such a shame as it has a wonderful collection, but in terms of being a visitor, it was great. Then it was on to the Prado for more of Goya's work (he was an amazingly prolific artist). The Prado has a staggering amount of Goya's work, from large scale cartoons for tapestries, through royal portraits and his "dark" paintings to his famous, emotive historical depictions to smaller, more personal paintings. Almu's art historical knowledge is vast, and it made a huge difference to our experience to have her knowledge and resources while viewing his work.
If you love Goya's work, and want a real learning experience, then Almu is the guide for you.
Then the following evening, it was on to a second love, food. Almu took me on a tapas tour of Madrid, and we had a ball. We visited many different places, quite a few of them being more than 100 years old, and tasted a great range of food including potato croquettes, fried cod, delicious sweet treats, and wonderful garlicky prawns, all washed down with either a small glass of beer or wine. We also visited a specialty sherry bar, which had a fantastic atmosphere and was lined with copious amounts of dusty bottles of sherry and wooden barrels and was very popular. We had the most divine glass of dry sherry which we quickly polished off with manchego cheese and fat, green olives - that was probably the highlight of the night for me. Almu ended the tour with a trip to her secret find - a new(ish) restaurant that specialised in locally grown food and locally produced wine where we gobbled tomatoes as huge as side plates and chocolate mousse that would be a diabetic's nightmare! Almu is great company, very funny and has a wealth of information about Madrid and Spanish history in general, and is the perfect host. She is a real find.

Every detail was perfect- amazing food and extensive knowledge

My husband and I took two tours with her on our recent trip to Madrid and could not have been more pleased. The private tour of the Prado was amazing; we learned so much and were fascinated by her knowledge and ability to explain art in an engaging, creative way.
She also took us on a tapas/food history tour and every detail was perfect. The foods were amazing and her knowledge of Madrid is extensive.
We feel lucky to have spent time with her!

Unique cultural experience of food in Madrid
- Detalles
We conversed back and forth over several e-mails so that she could design the perfect tour for my husband and me. We finally settled on a Madrid Briefing since we had never been to this city before, followed by a tapas tour so that we could experience this unique cultural experience of the food in Madrid.
From the moment we met her we were enthralled by her detailed knowledge of her city, the time she took to explain everything to us, including pictures from the past and historical pictures she brought along to bring the city alive for us!
We went from place to place, all the time with her pointing out the smallest details and pulling us into her world with her wonderful stories and personal touch. After a short time, we felt as if we were with a friend vs. a tour guide. We laughed, told stories and had a thoroughly enjoyable time!
The tapas tour was carefully planned out so that we avoided the "tourist traps" and instead went to the best establishments that the locals liked to frequent, in fact, at a few of the places, we were the only non-locals there!
I cannot recommend this tour company enough, a visit to Madrid will not be complete without it!

Una visita inteligente y reveladora
- Detalles
