I recently took two Spanish Civil War Tour with Across Madrid Tours. My great uncle was part of the International Brigades and for many years I was interested in visiting Spain and learning more about the war that he was so passionate about. 

The first tour, Madrid in the Spanish Civil War with Dr. Almudena ( Almu) Cros,was fabulous and so informative. Almu fit the tour into her busy schedule and was super accommodating. She sent clear meeting instructions,even including google map and pictures, to make it clear where we were meeting. Her instructions made it simple to find her even though I had only arrived in the city an hour before.

The tour was very well prepared and delivered with passion. Almu clearly knows her history and is well researched and articulate. I learned a great deal in a short amount of time.

I next took the half-day trip to the battlefield of Jarama led by historian Severiano Montero. Severiano brought to life the battles in Jarama and showed me the roads my uncle likely drove on, the hospital he died in, the triage hospital and the cementary in the area. We also toured the Museo de la Batalla del Jarama, a museum which is a work of love and a must see for anyone with an interest in the Civil War.

I would highly recommend the tours of Across Madrid Tours and hope to get back to Spain soon to take more.
