This 3-hour walking tour with a History professor is an in-depth experience to understand how the city works as we explore its cultural highlights. We will trace the origins of Madrid and its development from its medieval roots to modern times, when it became the thriving capital of Spain.

She is a true Madrileña, born and raised here, and she is happy to share her insider knowledge and family traditions with you. 

This history tour will show you some areas off the beaten path, and you will see some genuinely local housing and family-run local shops. Almudena is a fully qualified historian (BA, MA, PhD, Warwick University), and her classroom experience includes being an Art History professor at the Madrid campus for two American universities: Saint Louis University and Suffolk University (where she taught for 13 years). 

This is effectively a briefing on the essential local history and traditions of Madrid, what to do and see (and what to avoid) while you are here.  Avoid large groups, commercial tours, and skip the current trend for the trivialisation of history: contact us to book an academic-quality tour with a true local!

Group tour prices:

Please note that we can only run a group tour when we have a minimum of 2 people booking the tour.  Price per person decreases according to the number of people booking:

2 people: €90 per person
3 people: €80 per person
4 people: €70 per person
5 people: €60 per person
6 to 8 people: €50 per person

Private tour prices:
If you would like a guaranteed private tour, a supplement of €70 will be added to the total price. The cost for a private tour for 1 person will be the same price as for 2 people, and it will be €180 plus €70 = €250.

If you are a solo traveller and you want to book a group tour but nobody else signs up, we will run a private tour costing €180.

Family Special offer (guaranteed private tour):

For family units of up to 6 members,  including 1 or more children under 18 years of age: €250 flat fee per family.

AVAILABLE DAYS AND STARTING TIMES:

Monday through Saturday: 9:30.

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 14:00.

Summertime: starting at 9:00 due to the heat

As a very small company, we can rarely accommodate last-minute bookings, particularly during the high season.
