TOUR DESCRIPTION CONTINUED:
We start at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, home of an avid collector whose interests spanned Arabic antiquities and Goya’s works. Mr. Galdiano’s imposing villa holds thousands of artifacts, statues, weapons, textiles, furniture, and paintings, including Gothic altarpieces from Northern Europe, a panel by Hieronymus Bosch, and canvases by Renaissance, Baroque, and Nineteenth-century Spanish and Italian masters. After an in-depth visit to this Museum, we will proceed to the nearby Sorolla Museum, another stunning mansion built in the same period.
The Sorolla Museum holds a much smaller collection of artifacts since this was the home of the renowned Spanish post-Impressionist painter Joaquín Sorolla, whose paintings can be found in numerous American museums. Visiting his home and workshop offers an opportunity to enter his creative world, as well as an insight into Spanish taste and interior design.
