TOUR DESCRIPTION CONTINUED:
On this evening walk we sample some of the best local tapas from past and present: you will discover how tapas began, and how this tradition works in Spanish society. The research and input of Art History professor Dr. Almudena Cros bring in a unique perspective on the various types of food we find documented in Art throughout the centuries.

As we visit traditional establishments and independent and family-owned businesses, you will learn how and why tapas have become an emblematic part of the city’s nightlife and its vibrant popular culture. We will discuss the true origin and meaning of the term 'tapa', as well as the effects of austerity, cultural shifts, and gourmet trends on Madrid's food culture. This is not 'another tapas tour' but an evening of sampling tapas within the social background and history of modern Spain. Taste the difference when you book a tour with Dr. Cros!
